Past Exhibition at Lokremise St.Gallen | 4th of February – 25th of June 2017
Actors that stand in for the actors in physically demanding situations and scenes, such as nacked sequences, are known as „body doubles“ in the film industry. The exhibition «Body Doubles», however, emphasized the body as a sculpture, a physical presence in space, or as a negative space that surrounds the body rather than as stand-ins. The Lokremise show lighlighted the tension existing between the two.
Its focal point is a distinguished collection of works by Hans Josephsohn and Franz West from Ursula Hauser, a renowned St.Gallen collector.
These two artists were placed side by side in an exhibition for the first time.
